EVERYDAY LIFE IN THE CAMP
Tied together - The Human Knot
In our camp we have kids coming from Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia.
Every day the campers of the TTTE (Teaching Tolerance Through English) Camp start with breakfast at 8 am. However, the majority of the kids is already awake and begins their day with table tennis or other outdoor games, and, of course, chatting.
The “Morning Circle” is where all participants greet each other saying “Good Morning” in their own language. The "Morning Circle" is also a good opportunity to make announcements about the day, the programs, etc.
After the Circle, the campers sign up to two sessions of different activities with the Camp Counselors. They can play Ultimate Frisbee, soccer, volleyball, table tennis; go to Arts&Crafts, join a Role Playing Drama session, learn different dances, sing a song, etc. During the two sessions (each of them takes about 90 minutes) the teachers participate in a special training with the teacher trainers.
Reading books - reading CDs
At 12 o'clock the campers have lunch with their teams. Students of different nationalities form the teams. The four teams (Safari Eagles, Wave Riders, Treasure Gang and T4) talk about the best and worst parts of the last day. They give suggestions or talk about issues that should be changed. They also elect a delegate who on the same day is having dinner with the camp director and the teacher trainers – the Camp Council. The problems that occurred during the lunch can be communicated to and discussed with the camp director and the teacher trainers.
From 1:30 pm till 3:30 pm the students have English lessons in mixed nationality groups. So the campers, beside their four teams, join the lessons in three different groups.
At 4 pm students and teachers go together to the lake until 6 pm, when they have dinner.
The evening begins at half past seven, when the campers have evening programs. The camp counselors organize some of them; others are organized by one of the four teams. We have had team building (including the creation of the team identity, writing the team chant, making the team poster and flag) game night, dance house, movie night, disco and campfire. We finish the day with the "Evening Circle", when the campers say "Good night!" to each other in their own language.
CAMP TEAM OLYMPICS
It's easier if we hold hands
On Thursday (7th August 2008) in the camp we had Team Olympics . Four Teams played on the Olympics : T4 , Safari Eagles , Wave Riders and Treasure Gang . We think this Olympics was very funny, nice, and very good . There were the competitions in the camp Olympics : running with a table tennis ball in a spoon , defense of the eggs by building an egg nest, and put table tennis ball between the foreheads of two players and run etc.
We trust each other
This day was the best day in the camp. We think so the best game in this competition was the defense of the eggs, because this game is funny , long, and interesting. We love this camp and these camp games.

VOX POP
Here you can read about the opinion of the campers about certain questions.
What are your impressions about the last night in Balatonlelle?
Bogi: It was nice. We saw the fireworks, ate giant "langos", and had hilarious company.
Kristina: Last night was very good. The fireworks were beautiful.
Eduard: It was very hot!
Molly: It was fun. I liked the dancers on the stage, they were very good.
Olga: It was cool. The fireworks were very nice.
Martin: It was very good. The fireworks were nice.
Sasha: It was great, but I didn't buy anything.
Ivana: It was very, very, very great. Wonderful!
Uran: It was great. And the festival was awesome.
Nita: It was fun. We saw a lot of things.
Lorik: It was great. I think we should go again.
Ivana: It was good, but overcrowded, so maybe next time it will be better.
Mary Lou: I had a lovely evening. The weather was perfect, the Moon was gold, and half out, the starts were lovely, and we had a lot of laughs.
Taki: It was good, although I don't like crowds, so I could cope with less people, but besides I'm glad that I didn't miss that out.
What is your opinion about wild animals living and travelling with the circus?
Mihailo: I think that is bad for the animals, and that they should live in their natural habitat.
George: I think that1s torture of animals.
Tomas: I think they're being tortured.
Szabi: I'm not a fan of that, I don't enjoy watching them, but that's the only way people get to know about those animals.
Jim: As long as they take good care of them, I'm not opposed to that.
Molly: I don't like to see it, that animals are being manipulated for entertainment purposes by humans.
Minja: That's not fair. Everybody has the right to freedom.
Kati: I think that we shouldn't bring wild animals to circuses, and that it is really cruel.
Zita: Every living creature has the right to live in its own habitat.
Arta: I don't like when they hit them with something, but it can be good, because they show their talent.
Uran: I some cases it's good, in some it's bad.
Taki: It's horrible. I have no insight into what's happening within the circus, but from what I saw, the circumstances are less than ideal.

Arts&Crafts
We are colorful
We have Arts&Crafts sessions in the morning. On the first day we made a Welcome! poster for the groups arriving from Kosovo. Next day we were making bracelets and mosaics. Then we made `Peace` poster and jewelerelly. (We used beads and wire and thread.) Our teachers were Kati and Olga.

Ultimate Frisbee
Today (9th August 2008) was an action-packed day at the soccer field. We divided ourselves into two teams, and played Ultimate Frisbee. The captain of the first team was Gramoz Shpendi, and the captain of the other team was Tamas Arpadffy Lovas. Gramoz’ team has won the game with a result of 13 to 10. We love Ultimate Frisbee because it’s fun. We have to throw the frisbee to our team members and run with it to the end of the field.

The Camp Fire
On Saturday (9th August 2008) we had campfire, but without fire!!! It was a windy night, so we decided not to make the fire, because there were too many trees around; they could have got burned. However we had a good idea: each camper brought a flashlight. The campfire was cool, even without fire! During the evening, everyone was there - we sat in a big circle, playing and singing. We played games like: "What are you bringing to the picnic?", a really funny game. Everybody had a great time. Then the counselors sang "The Shark Family" song, and with MaryLou we sang "Lion Hunt".
After these every country sang folk songs of their country. Then we started singing songs that the whole camp knew. They were: "If everyone cared" by Nickelback, and " Let it be" by The Beatles.
The darkness came and we started to play "Cops and Thieves". The girls were the thieves and the boys were the cops. We had a good time playing this game. When I looked at my watch it was already bedtime.
So, campfire doesn't mean camp with fire, but camp with friends around. Even without fire, we had a good time.

Festival in Balatonlelle
Yesterday (10th August 2008) was a great night. It was the last day of the festival in Balatonlelle. We went there after dinner with our teachers: Sreten (Montenegro), Albana and Fjolla (Kosovo), Vlasta and Ivana (Slovakia) and Mirjam (Serbia). We spent there four and a half hours. We visited lots of shops and bought souvenirs for our families. We ate ice-cream and pop corn. There were lots of people in the town. In the centre there was a fountain. We waited for the fireworks and when it started, it was just amazing. We were there with our friends and camp counselors and we had lots of fun. We came back at 11:30 because everybody was very tired.

Beachtime
We go to the lake at 4 pm every day, and we finish swimming at 5:30 pm. We walk to the lake. Everybody who is coming hurries to get into the water. First, we check whether the water is hot or not. Those campers who don't swim can play games, read books, sunbathe.
Molly has a crocodile whose name is Croc. He comes swimming, too. We take a ball to the water and we play with that. We splash the water and have fun. We can eat ice-cream or drink orange juice.
When we are finished we come back to the camp and we have dinner.

The Treasure Hunt
The evening program of last night (11th August 2008) was organized by the Treasure Gang. We played several games. First, we played "Capture the Flag". The Wave Riders and Safari Eagles were together, against T4 and Treasure Gang. After this, it was time to play for the treasure. We had to complete 6 missions: in Art Gallery we had to built the Sculpture of Friendship; then we made a Zoo, and took Taki on a tour in it. At Kennedy International Airport we had to built a plane to cross the line. The funniest mission was the Beauty Shop, where we turned a Beast into Beauty. In the Word Bank we had to find the hidden words. The last mission was to bring a 4-leaves clover. However, it was really hard to find one, so we brought glue as well, then...
When a team accomplished the missions they could start searching the treasure. The team could open the treasure box only if they learned "We are friends." in every language: Albanian, Serbian and Slovakian. They passed, and then the box was opened: it was full of sweets. We shared the treasure.
After this, we had t run, because we were playing "Cops and Thieves". So, we all had a good time.
Task list for the treasure hunt
1. Build the Sculpture of Friendship in the Art Gallery! (Dining Room)
2. Take Taki on a Tour in the Zoo! (House 4)
3. Go to Kennedy International Airport. Build an airplane and cross the line! (in front of Dining Room)
4. In the Beauty Shop you can turn the Beast into Beauty. (House 3)
5. Can you find the words in the Bank? (House 2)
6. You have luck! Bring a 4-leaves clover! (table tennis field)

Volleyball
In the camp we have volleyball games. There are lots of fun at this session, so there are many kids. Jim is there all the time, because he is one of the best volleyball players. We enjoy this game, because we can play in teams together. Sometimes it is windy, so it is hard to play with the ball, but we can do it. It is also good that we have trees around the field, so it is not too hot.

Circus
On the 12th of August we went to circus. Everyone was very happy. Some of the kids went to circus for the first time.
There were many games, for example with horses, camels, dogs and elephants. The elephant's name was Sandra. She was wery smart and she could stand on two legs. Some people were standing on horses and they juped from one horse to another. Five camels came in and they moved their bumps from left to the right side. Then there was Miss Balerina. He made tricks with his dogs.
Howewer for most of us the best part was the performance of the artistes from Kenya. They were jumping through rings, they were making human pyramids...
We got home at 10.30 pm, everybody was very excited. It was very good that we could go to the circus.

Community service and Water Park
Yesterday (13th of August) we woke up at 7 a.m. This day was not like other days. We ate breakfast earlier and we went to the beach. There we got gloves and bags. We put the gloves on our hands and went for a walk. We collected litter from the beach because we were doing community service. It was great fun. We cleanned the beach and in the end of our walk we could go to the Water Park for free.

It was an amazing place - full of slides. We were all tired but I think we enjoyed the Water Park very much. The weather was really good, it was hot and the sun was shining. After we got in we ran to the slides. There were two big slides and a little bit smaller one. The water was very clean and we all had a great time. We came back to the camp at 4.00 pm. We were tired and suntanned. Then we got ready for the dinner. After dinner it was disco time.
